Full-Time Operations Manager

The Full-Time Operations Manager at The Pup Place is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, ensuring that our pups receive exceptional care and that the daycare runs smoothly and efficiently. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for animal welfare. The Operations Manager will be accountable for staff management, facility maintenance, customer relations, and overall operational excellence. The start date is flexible and is expected to be early September.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Management

  • Daily Operations: Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including scheduling, staff assignments, and resource allocation to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.

  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure the daycare facility is clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times, including play areas, kennels, and common areas.

  • Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to prevent injuries and ensure the health and well-being of the dogs and staff.

2. Staff Supervision and Development

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of dog care professionals, ensuring high levels of performance and job satisfaction.

  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance staff skills, knowledge, and compliance with best practices in animal care.

  • Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback, conducting performance reviews, and implementing improvement plans as necessary.

3. Customer Relations

  • Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Communication: Provide regular updates to clients about their pets, including behavior, activities, and any health concerns.

  • Service Excellence: Develop and maintain high standards of customer service, fostering a welcoming and positive experience for all clients and their pets.

4. Financial Management

  • Budget Oversight: Manage the operational budget, monitoring expenses and ensuring cost-effective practices without compromising service quality.

  • Revenue Generation: Work with the owners to identify opportunities for revenue growth, such as new services, special events, and promotional activities.

  • Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement and inventory of supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost efficiency.

5. Administrative Duties

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of staff schedules, client information, dog care activities, and any incidents.

  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on operational performance, client satisfaction, financial metrics, and any other relevant data for senior management.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with local regulations, licensing requirements, and industry standards for animal care and facility operations.

6. Strategic Planning and Improvement

  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for operational improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency, safety, and service quality.

  • Goal Setting: Work with owners to set and monitor short-term and long-term goals for the daycare, aligning with the overall mission and vision of the facility.

  • Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, integrating innovative ideas and technologies to improve the daycare experience.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Required: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management role, preferably in the pet care, veterinary, or animal services industry.

  • Preferred: Experience in a dog daycare or similar animal care environment with proven leadership abilities.

Skills

  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and management.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex situations and make informed decisions.

  • Organizational: Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, animal science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Preferred: Certification in pet care management, animal behavior, or similar qualifications.

Other Requirements

  • Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

  • Technical: Proficiency in using computer systems for scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting.

  • Personality: A passion for animals, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
