Full-Time Daycare Assistant
As a Full-Time Dog Daycare Assistant, you will be an integral part of our team, providing high-quality care and supervision for dogs in a daycare setting. Your role will involve ensuring the dogs' safety, health, and happiness while maintaining a clean and organized environment. This position requires a passion for animals, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position has a flexible start date and is expected to start early September.
Key Responsibilities
Dog Supervision and Interaction
Monitor and manage dog playgroups, ensuring safe and positive interactions among dogs.
Engage in play and enrichment, provide mental stimulation, and conduct activities to keep dogs entertained and active.
Observe dogs for signs of stress, aggression, or discomfort, and take appropriate action to address any issues.
Feeding and Care
Follow specific feeding instructions, ensuring each dog receives the correct food and portions.
Administer medications as directed, ensuring the well-being of dogs with medical needs.
Provide regular water breaks and maintain hydration for all dogs.
Cleaning and Sanitation
Clean and disinfect play areas, kennels, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
Perform regular cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal.
Ensure all equipment and toys are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
Customer Service
Greet dog owners and their pets with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
Provide updates to owners regarding their dogs' activities, behavior, and any concerns.
Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for clients.
Safety and Security
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent injuries and ensure the well-being of the dogs.
Conduct regular checks to ensure all play areas and equipment are safe and secure.
Monitor for and manage any potential hazards or risks within the daycare facility.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure effective communication and a cohesive team environment.
Assist with training new team members and sharing best practices.
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and policies.
Record Keeping and Administration
Maintain accurate records of dog activities, feeding schedules, and any incidents or medical needs.
Assist with administrative tasks such as updating client information and processing payments.
Keep inventory of supplies and report any shortages to the management team.
Qualifications
Experience: Prior experience working in a dog daycare, animal shelter, or similar environment is preferred.
Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in pet first aid and CPR is a plus.
Personality: Passion for animals, patience, and a positive attitude. Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
Working Conditions
Hours: Full-time, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Environment: Indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to various weather conditions.
